Gabriel

Gabriel Salazar Vergara (born 31 January 1936) is a Chilean historian in Chile. His country is well-known due to his sociology studies and his interpretations of movements. He was particularly prominent in the student demonstrations of the years 2011-12 and 2006. Salazar was born in a class-less family. He studied history along with sociology and the philosophy department during his time at Universidad de Chile, and in the past, was an working as an assistant for historical historian Mario Gongora and classical historian Hector Herrera Cajas. 1. Salazar used to be associated with the Revolutionary Left Movement until 1973. 2] In 1973, he was tortured in Villa Grimaldi by the military. When he was released from the military prison camp He fled to England. He was granted a scholarship to further his education in the University of Hull. At that school, he earned an PhD master's degree from the department of Economic and Social History in 1984. Salazar returned to Chile that year. Salazar was not well-known until 1985 , the year he had his breakthrough. Salazar's subjects of research included laborers, peons, and children Huachos, as well as women. Salazar is also the chief founder of Nueva Historia Social which is the name of a current in history. Salazar believes that history is an efficient tool to facilitate actions in society.
