Awkwafina
American actor and musician Awkwafina debuted with sly hip-hop tracks that addressed sexual identity and race with a boldly comedic perspective before broadening her reach to Hollywood. Nora Lum, born in Forest Hills Queens to Chinese and Korean immigrants was her very first music experience. She was a trumpet player. Following her Jazz and classical training her interest in hip-hop grew as a teen. When she was in high her schooling, she specialized in journalism and woman's studies. She studied Mandarin during a time in Beijing. Not until after graduation did her focus shift to music. The year 2012 saw My Vag (as a retort to Mickey Avalon's My Dick) became an internet sensation and featured in her debut LP Yellow Ranger. It also included viral hits including body-positive Queef and winking tour of her home NYC BitcheUSD. The last track was connected directly to Awkwafina's NYC travel guide released in the year 2015. After a successful career as a musician, she took on the role of actor. She has appeared in films including Neighbors 2 Storks, and Bad Rap. In 2018, she landed a series of notable roles including Dude Ocean 8 and Crazy Rich Asians. That June she issued the EP In Fina We Trust.
